Eight Portuguese accused of joining Daesh and fighting in Syria

Lisbon, (ST) – The Portuguese General Prosecutor accused eight Portuguese of belonging to Daesh and fighting in Syria.

The statement released by the General Prosecutor affirmed that the eight nationals joined the terrorist Daesh organizations and headed to Syria along with their wives and children, accusing them of offering support to the terrorist organization and recruiting people to fight within its ranks.

The statement added that the arrested group is suspected of being behind the kidnapping of a British journalist and a Dutch photographer in 2012.

International fears are increasing in case Daesh fighters return to the countries which exported them to Syria.
