Intellectuals and researchers: Syria’s steadfastness foiled the attempts to target Arab national identity

Syrian and Arab intellectuals and researchers have unanimously agreed that the Arab national identity is subjected to distortion attempts, underlining the urgency that this must be faced by focusing on our cultural and civilizational identity, fortifying generations and heading to the world with one vision. They indicate  that Syria was able, through its steadfastness, struggle and sacrifices, to stand in the face of these attempts.

During the international intellectual symposium  which was organized recently by Damascus Directorate of Culture in the Cultural Center  of Abu Rummana under the title “Regional and International Interventions and the difference of political projects and their role in the attempts of  fracturing the national identity”, the  intellectuals called for preserving  the national identity through education and culture to confront Zionist imperialism that seeks to dissolve the national identity.

Political and Media advisor in the Presidency of the Republic, Dr. Buthaina Shaaban pointed out that the Arab identity is targeted today more than ever through the attempts of the Israeli occupation authorities to distort our culture and confuse the ideas of young generations with American support, stressing the need to focus on our cultural identity and fortify new generations through an educational system .

Shaaban highlighted the importance of coordination between Arab  countries, as well as the importance of language, culture and civilization that unite  the Arabs.

The participating researches confirm that Syria’s victory and the defeat of the reactionary American Zionist project contributed not only to preserving its national identity, but also the  Arab national identity.
