Ankara – (ST), Turkish authorities arrested yesterday 171 persons under the pretext of being behind the July 2016 coup attempt.
The Turkish Anatolia Agency quoted security sources as saying (stressing not to mention its identity due to the restrictions imposed on it for not talking to the media ), that “the arrests came on the charge of using the Bayluk messaging application used by the organization of the preacher Fathallah Gulen , the public prosecutor in Ankara issued arrest warrants against 260 persons, including seven people outside Turkey. ”
Turkish authorities accuse Gulen of being behind the coup attempt.
Erdogan’s regime continues to crack down on its opponents in various cities and regions of Turkey under the pretext of the coup attempt. Over the past years, thousands of people, both civilians and military, have been arrested and 150,000 government, military, judiciary, education and other institutions have been suspended.
