Zarif: Dialogue and respect for the other’s sovereignty is the way to ensure stability in the region
On December 15, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad JavadZarif said that dialogue and respect for the other states’ sovereignty are the way to ensure security and stability in the region.
“Some still imagine that one party can benefit at the expense of others and can achieve security for itself by depriving its neighbors of security. This approach has not and will never succeed and that security is like regional changes that know no borders and do not accept partition,” Zarif said during a speech in Doha.
“Some international players consider the region a fertile base for expanding their military presence and marketing more weapons to all parties. But this foreign presence has not led to the enhancement of the security of foreign players or the region’s security,” Zarif added.
Zarif said that the Hormuz Peace Initiative , which was recently launched by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, seeks to formally recognize the responsibility of all players in the region in order to guarantee peace, stability and prosperity.
