Countries (Alba) condemn the aggressive policy of the American administration

Havana, (ST)- The countries of the Bolivarian Alliance “Alba” condemned the aggressive and interventionist policy pursued by the American administration towards other countries, sayingthat the US isthe main reason for serious regional instability.

The Alba countries condemned in the closing statement of the fifteenth summit of the countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of the American Continent (Alba) – the People’s Trade Treaty that was held in the Cuban capital Havana yesterday, the current policy of the American administration towards the American continent that causes clear violations of the principles stipulated in the Charter of the United Nations and international law.

In their statement, the Alba countries expressed their rejection of the threats of the use of force by the United States government against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, condemned the expansion of unilateral coercive criminal measures against the Venezuelan people, and in this context renewed their support for the Bolivarian revolution, civil and military unity, and constitutional president Nicholas Maduro.

The Alba countries also condemned the coup against the constitutional government of former Bolivian President Evo Morales, stressing that it constitutes a clear expression of the US imperial strategy in the Western Hemisphere and its permanent intention to violate the people’s destiny.

The coalition members condemned the repeated and destabilizing threats and attempts against the legitimate government of the Republic of Nicaragua, which violates international law, stressing their full support and solidarity with its government and its President, Daniel Ortega Saavedra.

They expressed their strong rejection of the application of the Monroe doctrine, demanding respect for the right of self-determination of peoples, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and not to interfere in the internal affairs of each country, stressing the importance of a peaceful solution to international disputes and refusing to use or threaten to use force in international relations.

They also condemned the use of unconventional methods of war to topple legitimate governments and impose unilateral coercive measures against countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Alba countries also condemned the systematic measures taken by the United States government to sabotage and discredit Cuba’s international cooperation in the health field in dozens of countries and the harsh pressures being exerted against many governments to boycott Cuba and refuse to cooperate with it.

The Alba Summit opened yesterday in Havana with the participation of Venezuelan Presidents Nicolas Maduro and Nicaraguan Daniel Ortega, Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Ralph Gonsalves in addition to foreign ministers and high-level representatives from member countries.

In a speech at the opening of the summit, Cuban President Miguel Diaz Canel called on the participants to continue progress in declaring Latin America and the Caribbean a region of peace that was adopted at the summit held in Havana in 2014 and to defend peace, independence and cooperation in the context of the regional mechanism.

The Cuban President stressed the need to take advantage of the capacity and strength of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of the American Continent, which was established on December 14, 2004 by the late Cuban leaders Fidel Castro and Venezuelan Hugo Chavez.

The Bolivarian Alliance of the American continent Alba consists of Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua, St. Vincent, the Grenadines, Dominica, Grenada, Antigua and Barbuda, St. Kitts and Nevis, Suriname and St. Lucia and its Executive Secretary is the former Bolivian Foreign Minister David Chocihuanca.
