Shaaban stresses need to establish a new world order that serves the interests of all countries of the world

BEIJING, (ST)- Western powers and the United States consider themselves the guardians of human rights while in fact they seriously undermine this concept worldwide, the Presidential Political and Media Advisor Bouthaina Shaaban has stressed.

In a speech during the South..South Human Rights Forum 2019 on Wednesday, Shaaban said that Washington and the western powers keep interfering in the internal affairs of other countries, specifically in the Arab world and particularly in Iraq, Libya and Syria while they don’t mention the human rights violations being committed by “Israel” in occupied Palestine and the occupied Syrian Arab Golan where the Zionist entity has been trying to change the features of the place to obliterate its original historical identity.

Shaaban hailed China’s role in promoting dialogue, harmony and mutual understanding between different cultures, stressing that this role constitutes the basis of China’s current foreign policy, which is widely represented in the Belt and Road Initiative launched by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2013.

She hoped that the Forum would constitute a first step on the path of maintaining human rights in harmony with the diversity of civilizations and cultures of the peoples of the world and in liberating this concept from Western hegemony.

She reiterated that the world order produced by the Second World War is over, stressing the need to establish a new world order that serves the interests of all countries, respects their sovereignty and treats them on an equal footing in terms of human dignity.

Shaaban affirmed that the US policies ignore facts and reflect its concern about China’s growing power globally and about the new model being presented by China to the peoples of the world.

She indicated that the terrorist war waged against Syria has revealed the reality of the West’s attitude towards terrorism, pointing out that the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States on Syria amount to collective punishment.

She affirmed that Syria has condemned in the strongest terms the decision recently made by the US Congress concerning the Chinese provinces of Xinjiang and Hong Kong.
