On December 9, Protests and sit-ins continued in some Lebanese regions demanding the improvement of living conditions and an end to corruption.
The protesters blocked streets in the city of Tripoli, northern Lebanon amid a deployment of soldiers of the Lebanese army, who began work to open the blocked roads and streets.
Most schools and universities in Tripoli were closed in response to calls for a strike. The banks, public institutions and government departments opened their doors, while most employees were unable to reach their offices due to the closed roads.
Since October 17, several regions in Lebanon have been witnessing sit-ins and demonstrations calling for the improvement of the living conditions and hold the corrupt figures to accountability.
On December 8, the Lebanese Presidency announced the postponement of the parliamentary consultations for forming a new Lebanese government, which were scheduled from December 9 until December 16.
