Homs Joyful Christmas Festival kicks off

The activities of “Milad Farah Homs” festival were launched in the Church of Our Lady of Annunciation in Al-Mahata neighborhood.

The opening ceremony included a show of the scout regiment of Our Lady of the Annunciation Church, the lighting of the Christmas tree accompanied by Christmas songs with cartoon characters for children and a concert by artist Samer Gabro, as well as opening the Christmas market in the church hall that will last for three days.

Mrs. Lama Tabbaa, director of Homs Festivals and a member of the committee organizing this festival, indicated that “Milad Farah Homs” festival is being held after nine years of the terrorist war thanks to the cooperation of the people of Homs and the support of expatriate, pointing out that the festival, with its various activities, is a message of peace to the whole world and a greeting of gratitude for the souls of the martyrs and the heroes of the Syrian Arab Army.

Jalal al-Sabbagh, director of the Homs region for the Department of Ecumenical Relations and Development, confirmed that the festival is an indication that Syria is recovering and reviving again thanks to the steadfastness of its people as this festival is the result of the combined efforts of the neighborhood residents inside Syria as well as the expatriates.

Father Elias Abdoka pointed out that the past years were difficult and hard but these celebrations and festivals help to eliminate the bitterness of days and confirm Syria’s recovery, calling on expatriates to return to their homeland and contribute to the country’s reconstruction process.

Participant s in the exhibition stressed that through their Participation   they seek to contribute to the return of joy, peace and life to all regions of Homs, hoping that peace will prevail in Syria and the whole world.

It is worth mentioning that the festival will last till the 6th of January.
