“One Million Smile” campaign launched by Basma Society

Basma Society for Caring for children suffering from cancer launched a campaign titled “A Million Smiles”which addressed different strata of the Syrian society to be active partners and supporters for the Society to expand its activities and make its services reach every Syrian child suffering from cancer.

Chairperson of the Board of the Society Soheir Bolad said that great voluntary efforts have been exerted over the past 13 years, noting that Basma unit at al-Bairouni hospital will be expanded to offer more treatment opportunities for children.

In reply to a question about the difficulties facing the work of the Society, Bolad said that there were many obstacles during the war, especially the high prices of medicine and the unilateral coercive sanctions being imposed on Syria. However, she added, that these difficulties were surmounted thanks to the support offered by some friendly countries and the great voluntary efforts exerted by Syrian citizens.

Regarding the objectives of the A Million Smiles Campaign, Chairperson of the Foreign Relations Committee at the Society Katya al-Shata said that its main aim lies in recruiting more support that guarantees the continuity of the Society’s work and providing free of charge treatment for children in all Syrian governorates.
