Syria stresses commitment to enhance IAEA’s work

Vienna, (ST): Syria stressed its commitment to enhancing the execution of legal texts related to the work of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

 Syria’s Permanent Representative to the (IAEA) in Vienna  Bassam al-Sabbagh presented the document of Syrian government’s ratification of the Convention on the physical protection of nuclear materials for 1979 and its amendments for 2005 to the IAEA Director-General Rafael Grossi.

The meeting was attended  by Director General of the Syrian Atomic Energy Commission Dr. Ibrahim Othman.

Sabbagh also discussed means of promoting technical cooperation between Syria and the IAEA, stressing Syria’s commitment to cooperate with the Agency and to fulfill its commitments under international agreements and joint programs.

Sabbagh also offered the Syrian government’s congratulations for ambassador Grossi on the occasion of assuming the post as IAEA Director-General.
