DAMASCUS, (ST) _ The Turkish government has turned the bordering areas into international terrorism centers. It has been facilitating the smuggling of terrorists, weapons, financial aid, explosive devices and cars into Syria to reach the armed terrorist groups in the country, stressed Information Minister Omran al-Zou’bi on Sunday.
Al-Zou’bi, who was speaking at the opening ceremony of a political and intellectual symposium held at the Al-Assad Library in Damascus, said that the Erdogan-led Turkish government is politically and morally responsible for what is happening to the Syrian and Turkish peoples and to the peoples of the entire region.
Commenting on Reyhanli blasts in Turkey, the minister regretted that the explosion has victimized innocent people and caused huge material damage, but stressed that “no one in Turkey has the right to arbitrarily accuse Syria for the explosions which hit Turkey yesterday, because Syria didn’t and will never commit such an act, as this behavior contradicts our values.”
Al-Zou’bi held Turkey along with some Arab and Western parties responsible for the ongoing events in Syria. He blamed the Turkish government for the bombings which hit Turkey yesterday, and urged Erdogan to step down, because he hasn’t the right to build his glories at the expense of the blood of the Syrians and the Turks.
Questioning the timing of the blasts, al-Zou’bi asked “why now? Why did it happen days before Erdogan’s meeting with Obama?”
“Does he want to incite the United States and say that his state, which is a NATO member, is being exposed to an aggression from Syria? Does he want show himself as being able enough to interfere in Syria?” asked the minister, wondering also whether Erdogan wanted to foil the Russian-American efforts and get new political arrangements.
The Information Minister affirmed that the Turkish government, which claims that it supports the Palestinian people’s resistance, has normal relations with the Zionist entity and it apologized from Israel though Israel was the party which had insulted the Turkish ambassador and attacked the Marmara ship.
“Israel recently attacked Syria and bombarded military facilities near Damascus, the minister said, stressing that by this aggression Israel has violated all signed international agreements including the (Forces Disintegration Agreement).
Al-Zou’bi went on to say that Israel also allowed terrorists to take positions in an arms-free zone in Golan, to treat the wounded members of the armed terrorist groups in Israeli hospitals and to kidnap UN peacekeepers.
“The Syrian people and army know well how to defend Syria,” Al-Zou’bi said, addressing all who think that circumstances are suitable to destroy Syria.
“All must know that we don’t forget to retaliate to any aggression against us, we don’t forget our martyrs or those who killed our people,” the minister concluded, warning Israel against further attacks.
