Al-Kuzbari: Turkish-backed delegation has fears about being engaged in any national discussion that concerns the Syrian people

GENEVA, (ST)- Head of the national delegation to the Constitutional Committee on Syria Ahmad al-Kuzbari has stressed that the mini-committee for discussing the constitution held no meetings today, because the Turkish-backed delegation has fears about being engaged in any national discussion that concerns the Syrian people.

In a statement to journalists, al-Kuzbari said that all the proposals made by the Turkish-backed delegation confirmed that they were not serious. He made it clear that “over the past two days, we have been listening to different initiatives through media outlets not through the right channels because they ( the Turkish backed delegation) got  used to propaganda without any deeds.

He said that “the national delegation has put forward many proposals, the latest of which is to start discussing the main national principles or to enter the meeting room and start discussing issues without any agendas or preconditions, but we got no response.”

Al-Kuzbari pointed out that the Turkish-backed delegation puts preconditions which is absolutely rejected .

SANA reporter in Geneva said on Thursday that for the fourth day, no sessions have been held by the mini-committee for discussing the constitution because of the intransigence of the Turkish-backed delegation and its rejection to discuss the proposed agenda.

The reporter added that only separate meetings were held between the UN Chief’s Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen on the one hand and the head of the national delegation and the head of the Turkish-backed delegation on the other.
