Bogdanov: Russia keen to strengthen political, parliamentary relations with Syria

MOSCOW-, (ST)- Russian Presidential Envoy for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov has affirmed Russia’s keenness to strengthen its political, diplomatic, party and parliamentary cooperation with Syria.

Bogdanov made the remarks during his meeting on Tuesday with a delegation from Syria’s Baath Arab Socialist Party led by Assistant Regional Secretary Hilal al-Hila.

He pointed out that the relations between Russia and Syria are deep-rooted and they have been deepened further with the passage of time, reiterating  Moscow’s principled stance on supporting Syria’s unity, territorial integrity and sovereignty.

The two sides focused on joint counterterrorism efforts, reconstruction in Syria and the Syrian refugees’ return.

On his part, al-Hilal said the meeting comes within the framework of the distinguished ties between the two countries including their cooperation in fighting global terrorism.

He pointed out that Syria and Russia are now making the history of victory over international terrorism after the blood of the martyrs from both countries was intermingled in the Syrian soil not only in defense of Syria and Russia, but the entire world.
