Russia condemns Israeli missile strikes on Syria, as a violation of international law

Moscow, ST- The Russian Foreign Ministry on Wednesday condemned the Israeli missile strikes on the Syrian territories, as a violation of international law.

“The bombing of the territory of a sovereign state is in complete contravention of international law and leads to an escalation of tension,” Deputy Special Representative of the Russian President for the Middle East and African Countries Mikhail Bogdanov told reporters today.

Bogdanov noted that the Russian Foreign Ministry is clarifying all the circumstances of this aggression and it is in contact with the parties concerned in this issue.

After midnight yesterday, the Air Defences at the Syrian Arab Army, foiled an intensive Israeli missile assault that targeted the outskirts of Damascus, and destroyed most of the missiles before reaching their targets while two civilians were martyred and two others were injured due to the aggression.

On the other hand, Bogdanov stressed that the US decision to increase the number of military personnel in Saudi Arabia would lead to increased tension in the Gulf region.
