Polyanskiy: Any illegitimate foreign presence on the Syrian territories should be ended

New York (ST):  Deputy of Russia’s permanent representative at the UN Dmitry Polyanskiy affirmed the necessity of ending any illegitimate foreign presence on the Syrian territories, noting that what is being carried out by Washington in the Syrian Jazira endangers stability in Syria.

During the UNSC meeting on the situation in the Middle East, Polyanskiy  underlined the fact that the Syrian oil is the right of the Syrian people, adding that what is being done by Washington in the Syrian Jazira area is a plunder of resources and all the oil fields and wells should be returned to the control of the Syrian state.

The Russian diplomat clarified that the reason behind the instability prevalent in the Syrian Jazira is the foreign occupation and the attempt to change the demographic status of this area.

He reiterated that Idleb is a hotbed of international terrorism that should be eliminated.

In turn, China’s permanent envoy to the UN Zhang Jun, reiterated the necessity of respecting Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and the continuity of the battle against terrorism until it is defeated completely and uprooted from the Syrian territories.
