Beirut, (ST) – Renewed sit-ins and demonstrations in all Lebanese regions today to demand accountability for corrupt people, improve the living conditions of citizens and prevent the imposition of new taxes.

Hundreds of protesters gathered this morning in front of the Palace of Justice in Beirut and closed its entrances in support of the independence of the judiciary and to demand expedited parliamentary consultations.

Hundreds of protesters, university students and schools gathered in front of the Lebanese Ministry of Education in UNESCO and cut off roads in the region, raising the media and banners demanding the reduction of school and university tuition, while major public roads were cut off in Akkar with iron barriers, tires and dust.

Accordingly, the majority of public and private schools and a number of official institutions are closed by virtue of the inaccessibility of staff, workers and students.
