President of Cuba underlines the urgency of respecting Syria’s sovereignty and rejecting imperialist interference in its affairs

Participants in the international solidarity forum (Anti- imperialism for democracy and anti Neo-liberalism) affirmed their solidarity with Syria and condemned the imperialist intervention in its affairs, calling for an immediate end to this interference and respect for its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

With the participation of Syria, the conclusion communiqué of the forum, held in the Cuban capital of Havana, called for lifting the US economic siege imposed on Cuba and supporting the Cuban draft resolution which is set to be presented to the UN General Assembly in this regard on November 7.

The statement stressed solidarity with Venezuela and its legitimate president, Nicolas Maduro, and congratulated the people of Bolivia on the victory of President Evo Morales in the recent elections.

The statement condemned the imperialist intervention in the countries of Africa and the Middle East under the pretext of fighting terrorism, affirming support for the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.

In his speech at the end of the solidarity forum, Cuban President Miguel Diaz Canel underlined the necessity of respecting Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, rejecting imperialist interference in its internal affairs, and condemning the constant threats and pressures put on the progressive national states and governments that refuse to submit to global imperialism.

Diaz Canel pointed out that because of lies the imperialist countries besieged Cuba, invaded Iraq, destroyed Libya and waged a war against Syria in addition to  funding  this war.

Diaz Canel voiced his country’s incessant support for the legitimacy in Venezuela which is represented by President Maduro, stressing that his country was and will remain a meeting place for free and honorable people in the world.

For his part, the Venezuelan President said in a speech during the conclusion session of the forum that “Washington accuses his country of everything to justify any actions against it,” stressing the continuation of the Bolivarian Revolution despite all the challenges and pressures.

Maduro noted that the era of defeats is over and that imperialism and neo-liberalism have been defeated in Latin America which is passing through a new situation.

In a speech delivered on behalf of the Syrian delegation participating in the forum, Syrian Ambassador to Cuba, Dr. Idris Mia, , stressed that the steadfastness of the Syrian people throughout the years of the terrorist war on their country and rallying around  their army and leadership have directed  a heavy blow to the makers  of the conspiracy scheme, especially the global imperialism, which has  targeted all Syrians. He stressed the determination of the Syrian Arab Army, which fights terrorism on behalf of the whole world, to continue pursuing terrorist organizations wherever in Syria until the elimination of it and the exit of the illegal foreign forces from the Syrian territories.

Ambassador Mia pointed out that the current challenges faced by the leftist parties and the progressive forces in the world and the high frequency of threats of global imperialism to the national governments necessitate more cooperation and laying down  constructive strategies and clear visions to face them.

The Syrian delegation participated in the forum, headed by Ambassador Mia, Salah Asaad and Ammar al-Jajeh, members of the executive office of the Revolutionary Youth Union, and Erwa Mahmoud, Head of the Cuba branch of the National Union of Syrian Students.
