More than 1000 Azebaijani citizens have joined terrorist organizations in Syria and Iraq since 2011

BAKU, (ST)- Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijani State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Sayavush Heydarov has announced that more than 1000 Azebaijani citizens have joined terrorist organizations in Syria and Iraq since 2011, pointing out that more than 300 of them have been confirmed killed while more than 400 others were stripped of their Azebaijani citizenship.

In a statement to journalists on Thursday in Baku, the capital of Azebaijan, Heydarov said the Azerbaijani authorities are trying to bring back the rest of the Azerbaijani persons who joined the terrorists in Syria and Iraq. 

 He pointed out that more than 110 people, who have joined the terror groups, have been questioned and concerned authorities are now working to identify others to bring them back home.
