Iran calls on the International Atomic Energy Agency to preserve its independent and neutral approach
Iran’s Permanent Representative to the international organizations in Vienna, Kazem Gharib Abadi, called on the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to preserve its independent and neutral approach in the new phase after the election of a new director general.
Abadi said in a press statement that his country always emphasizes the professionalism, independence and neutrality of the Agency and the agency is expected to preserve this approach, stressing the need to stop putting pressure on the Agency by some of its member states.
Abadi called on the new director-general of IAEA to work to maintain the nuclear deal signed with Iran.
On October 29, Argentine Rafael Grossi was elected as Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA, replacing IAEA’s former Director-General Yukiya Amano, who died in July.
