Five Scandinavian countries of northern Europe Condemn Turkish aggression on Syria
STOCKHOLM, (ST)- The five Scandinavian nations in northern Europe have condemned the Turkish aggression on the Syrian territories.
Sputnik quoted the Danish Minister for Foreign Affairs Jeppe Kofod as saying on Wednesday during the 71st session of the Nordic Council in Stockholm that the countries of northern Europe (Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Finland) strongly condemn the Turkish “military operation” in the north of Syria, because “it leads to more escalation and undermines the peace process”.
The Nordic Council is the official body for formal inter-parliamentary co-operation among the Nordic countries. Formed in 1952, it has 87 representatives from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden.
Italy: Turkish aggression on Syria threatens the security of entire Europe
In the meantime, the Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio reaffirmed his country’s rejection of the Turkish aggression on the Syrian Territories, pointing out that this aggression threatens the security of Europe as a whole.
In a statement at the Italian Senate on Wednesday, Di Maio said “the Turkish aggression destabilizes the Middle East and threatens the security of entire Europe, not only Italy,” noting the danger of releasing Daesh foreign terrorists.
Earlier, the Italian President Sergio Mattarella and the Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte said in separate statements that the aggression hampers the political process to solve the crisis in Syria. They called for a unified European stance against the Turkish invasion.
