Lavrentiev: Oil fields in eastern Syria must be under control of the government

Moscow, ST- Russian President’s Special Envoy to Syria Alexander Lavrentiev affirmed that the oil fields in eastern Syria must be under the control of the Syrian Government.

“Doubtlessly, these oil fields must be under the control of the Syrian Government, and we believe that it is the only solution.”, Lavrentiev said in a statement.

Russian Defense Ministry affirmed that the US occupation forces in Syria are stealing oil on the level of the state which contradicts with the international law, indicating that what Washington is doing is to impose its military control over oil fields, which simply means perpetrating acts of looting and stealing on the level of the state.

The Ministry reiterated that all the resources in the Syrian territories are owned by the Syrian Arab Republic and they are not for Daesh (ISIS) or their American backers.
