Security Council’s Failure to end Palestinian People’s Suffering under occupation a shame on humanity: South Africa

NEW YORK, (ST)- The failure of the Security Council to find a solution for the suffering of the Palestinian people under the Israeli occupation is a shame on humanity, the South African  Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Naledi Pandor stressed in a statement during a Security Council session on Monday.

She clarified that the situation in Palestine is deteriorating terribly and the Security Council Resolutions, particularly the Resolution No. 2334 which calls for the immediate stopping of Israeli settlement building activities, are being ignored and violated.

She condemned the human rights violations committed by the Israeli occupation authorities against the Palestinian people, reiterating the need to establish an independent Palestinian state.

Pandor called on the Security Council to implement its commitments concerning the Palestinian cause and to find a way to halt the grave violations of international resolutions.
