Moscow: We have not provided assistance and there is no information to confirm Baghdadi’s death

On October 27, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that it has no information confirming the killing of the leader of Daesh terrorist organization “Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi” and is not aware of any alleged Russian assistance to the US air force in the operation.

US President Donald Trump announced the killing of the Daesh  leader in a military operation in Idlib governorate,  expressing his thanks to Russia and several other countries for helping them carry out the operation successfully.

“The increase in the number of direct participants and the countries that are said to have participated in this alleged operation, with contradictory details, raises justifiable questions and doubts about its realism and success” Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov said in a statement after Trump’s announcement

The statement pointed out that no air strikes were detected by the US aircraft or the so-called “international coalition” on the area of de-escalation in Idlib  last Saturday or within the last days and we are not aware of any alleged assistance to fly US aircraft over the de-escalation zone during this operation.

“ From the moment of the final defeat of Daesh by the Syrian Arab Army with the support of the Russian Aerospace Force in early 2018, the news of al-Baghdadi’s death has no impact on the situation in Syria or the actions of the remaining terrorists in Idlib,” the Ministry said.
