STRASBOURG, (ST)- Members of the European Parliament on Thursday strongly condemned the Turkish aggression on the northeast of Syria, urging Turkish regime to withdraw all its forces from the Syrian territory.
A press release published on the European parliament website on Thursday, said that the parliament issued a resolution warning that the Turkish aggression against the Syrian territories is a grave violation of international law that undermines the stability and security of the region as a whole.
Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) said in their resolution that they find it unacceptable that the President of the Turkish regime Recep Tayyip Erdogan has exploited the refugees to blackmail the EU.
They called on the European Council to introduce a set of targeted sanctions and visa bans on Turkish officials responsible for human rights abuses, as well as to consider adopting targeted economic measures against Turkey.
The MEPs also proposed suspending trade agreements with Turkey, targeting the agricultural products and suspending the EU-Turkey Customs Union as punitive measures against Turkey.
