World Peace Delegation Honored Syrian Martyrs

DAMASCUS,(ST)_ The World Peace delegation , currently visiting Syria, led by Mairead Maguire on Wednesday met with the families of martyrs and health sector workers  in Damascus and Damascus countryside governorates.

Maguire, and members of the delegation expressed condolences to the families of the martyrs who were killed as a result of  acts of terrorism by insurgents and terrorists

She stressed that the world peace delegation  called  on  governments funding terrorists   to give up  supporting and financing terrorism  so as peace to be restored to Syria, noting  the suffering of the clergymen  at the hands of terrorists in acts of murder, torture and intimidation, and the need to stop targeting spiritual leaders  and  implanting terror throughout Syria.

Maguire considered  that peace is the only answer to the suffering of the Syrian people,  adding that the delegation will listen during its  visit to certificates on what  Syria is exposed and convey the hearings to the  world public opinion.

 “we know that insurgents and terrorists are targeting innocent civilians and medical personnel in order to threaten the stability of Syria and put it in the hands of the enemies of goodness, ” she emphasized.

For his part, Minister of Health  Dr. Saad Naef said that Syria  is exposed to a heinous  global war  with obscurantism trends as its  spearhead , commending the efforts of ambulances and medical personnel in the departments of Health, which work  despite risks and threats .

Worthy mentioning that head of the visiting  delegation  Maguire holds a Nobel Peace Prize . The  delegation includes 18 figures working  in medical ,educational parliamentary , media and religious fields  in  Ireland , the USA  Australia, Italy, Iran, Canada, Brazil and Portugal.
