Khan: I knew Brook would defeat Devon

AMIR KHAN has landed a verbal blow on Kell Brook’s jaw by claiming: I knew he’d pull out of facing Devon Alexander.

Brook, 27, was due to slug it out with IBF world welterweight champion Alexander in Atlantic City on May 18.

But the Sheffield fighter, who had already endured the heartache of the clash being rescheduled on two previous occasions, suffered a stress fracture to his right foot — opening the door for Lee Purdy to step in as a late replacement.

And Khan insists he always thought Brook would walk away from the showdown with the 26-year-old southpaw.

The former WBA and IBF light-welterweight champ told SunSport: “He was meant to fight for a world title against Alexander and he pulled out, which I knew all along he would do.

“I thought it was a tough fight for him to take — and he’s not one of those guys who would take a tough fight.”
