Iranian Handicrafts in spotlight at the Iranian Art Exhibition in Lattakia

With the aim of introducing Iran’s culture,  ancient civilization and archaeological sites , the cultural counselor of Iran has recently  held the Iranian Art Exhibition in cooperation with Tishreen University in Lattakia province.

Iran boasts in having the richest artistic heritage in the world history. It encompasses many traditional disciplines including painting, pottery, calligraphy, metal work and stonemasonry.

The three-day exhibition, held at the central library in Tishreen university,  featured  60 paintings of the most important monuments and tourist attractions in the Islamic Republic of Iran and 100 handicrafts including ceramic utensils, vases, decorative paintings , copper artworks as well as paintings depicting silent nature as well as humanitarian topics.

The exhibition was characterized by showcasing verses from the holy Quran written in Persian calligraphy, which has several styles, in addition to Iranian hand-woven carpets, as the art of weaving Iranian carpets has its roots in the culture and customs of Iranian people.

“This event is an embodiment of cultural, artistic, historic, scientific and civilizational  rapprochement between the two friendly peoples of  Syria and Iran,” Mr. Jawad Turki Abadi  the Iranian Ambassador to Syria said in a statement to the Syriatimes e-newspaper.

He underscored that the exhibition is clear evidence that Syria has achieved victory against terrorism and Syria is still the beacon of a great civilization.

Mr. Abadi expressed his wish to continue strengthening friendship relations binding Syria and Iran and achieving more victories on all external forces aimed at destabilizing the two countries.

On his part, Rector of Tishreen University Dr. Bassam Hassan stressed in his statement to Syriatimes the importance of all kinds of vital art in human life and its role in spreading the values of civilization and bolstering cooperation between all countries.

Dr. Hassan pointed out that the Islamic Republic of Iran has presented models of self-development, culture and authenticity and has established itself as a key player in the region and the world.

Visitors of the exhibition expressed admiration for the wide variety of exhibits, stressing that such activities serve as an influential platform to introduce countries’ heritage and civilization to others.
