Cypriot President, President of the European Council denounce Turkish aggression

President of the European Council Donald Tusk demanded that the Turkish regime immediately stop its aggression against the Syrian territories, stressing that such aggression would endanger stability in the region.

France Press Agency quoted Tusk as saying in a joint press conference he held with the Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades that he was deeply concerned about the Turkish military operation in northern Syria which should be halted immediately. Tusk warned against the adverse repercussions of the Turkish aggression including the increase of the civilians’ suffering, destabilizing the region and the return of ISIS terrorist organization, pointing out that Ankara should understand that its unilateral military action will aggravate the situation in the region.

He expressed Europe’s rejections of the threats made by the President of the Turkish regime regarding the refugees issue, affirming that Europe would never accept Erdogan’s exploitation of this issue to blackmail Europe.

In turn, President Anastasiades expressed deep concern about the Turkish unilateral military operation against Syria.
