Declared Support for Terrorism and Arming Terrorists in Syria

DAMASCUS, (ST)_ The evidence for the involvement of foreign countries, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey, in backing and arming the terrorist groups in Syria has been accumulated.

According to the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry, in two identical letters addressed to the US secretary General and the UN Security Council Chairperson, the support for terrorism and arming terrorists in Syria is already well-known and declared, citing scores of statements by Qatari, Saudi and Turkish officials to  in this regard.

The Ministry added that the terrorist attacks against the Syrian State,  in all of its components, are unabated and with the support of some forces, regional and world countries, asserting that those who stand behind the terrorist attacks are the same countries which claim to combat terrorism!

The involvement of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey in backing the terrorist groups in Syria does contribute to hinder prospects of dialogue as well as of peaceful solutions, not to mention the great human and material damage and harm inflicted upon Syria and Syrians.

The Ministry cited media reports by Western sources proving the presence of Saudi-Army-owned weapons in Aleppo, and quoted French and British officials’ acknowledgement of the presence of French and British ”jihadists”  fighting in Syria.

President Francois Hollande and British Foreign Secretary, William Hague acknowledged in press statement, October 11th, and October 10th respectively, the presence of their terrorists in Syria.

The Ministry lambasted the Turkish hosting, training and dispatching of the terrorists into Syria, and the US ”non-lethal”, according to US Defence Secretary, Panetta, support, citing New York Times’ reports about the US aid and training for the terrorists in Syria.

The Ministry added that al-Qaeda related terrorists, especially al-Qaeda terrorist in the Yemen, are being smuggled into Syria, across Turkey, and with the help of Saudi Arabia, calling on the UN Security Council and its ad-hoc committees to immediately carry out an investigation into such terrorism-backing practices by such countries, expressing the Syrian willingness to provide every available information about such practices to the UN Security affiliated terrorism combating committees.
