Zarif underlines the urgency of respecting sovereignty of the region’s countries including Syria

On October 6, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif affirmed that there is no place for terrorism in the region and that no one should allow terrorists to proceed from his country to attack others, pointing out that the security of the countries of the region is achieved through commitment to respect, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the countries, including Syria.

Attending the meeting of the Islamic Shoura Council held today, Zarif pointed out that respecting Syria’s sovereignty and implementing the Adana agreement between the two countries is the only way to ensure Turkey’s security.

Zarif confirmed that the construction of dams in Turkey affects water security in Syria and Iraq, pointing out that this is a problem experienced by Syria, Iraq and Iran as well.

In another context, Zarif said that the EU is not in a suitable position to withdraw from the nuclear agreement with Iran and is not legally entitled to do so, pointing out that the Europeans failed to fulfill their commitments and in some cases violated the agreement so following the example of America, which explicitly violated the agreement by withdrawing from it.

The Iranian foreign minister stressed that Tehran will take steps according to the predictions of the comprehensive plan of action to confront these measures.

Earlier in the day, Spokesman for Iran’s Atomic Energy Agecy Behrouz Kamalundi confirmed that Iran would reduce its nuclear obligations if other parties don’t take the initiative to implement their commitments.
