A new episode in the chemical farce

The statement made by the US Secretary  of State Mike Pompeo a few days ago in which he accused the Syrian Arab army of launching a chemical attack in Lattakia city last May is groundless and baseless as it is part of the US and Western distortion campaign to defame the Syrian state and the Syrian Arab Army. The goal is to aggravate tensions and prolong the crisis.

Pompeo’s allegation is a big lie that is considered a new episode in the chemical farce of hypocrisy fabricated by the US and its Western allies to level threats and accusations against Syrian state and army.

Washington’s new allegations aim at impeding the improvement of situation in Syria, particularly the political process. It seems that whenever positive changes happen, first of all in the political process, statements emerge that may undermine the improvement of the situation in Syria.

The systemized campaign of lies to accuse the Syrian state of using chemical weapons, is nothing but a desperate, recurrent attempt, by the US, its Western allies and regional tools to ease pressure on the crimes of terrorists in Idleb and an exposed attempt to stop the advance of army in those regions.

Last May takfiri terrorist groups and some media outlets affiliated to them, upon the request of their masters, issued untrue false news about the Syrian Arab Army using chemical weapons in Kabani town in Lattakia countryside.

Syria had cooperated fully with the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) which declared Syria free of chemical weapons. Syria has never used chemical weapons before and would not use them now.  It does not possess such weapons in the first place, and it considers the use of toxic weapons contradictory to its moral and international obligations.

Such recurring, cheap, brazen media lies will not prevent the Syrian Arab army from uprooting terrorism until security and safety are restored to the whole country.

From the very beginning of the crisis in Syria, terrorist organizations have been carrying out chemical attacks against Syrian people with the help of Turkey, Israel and other states aiming at accusing the Syrian army of such atrocious attacks. Almost a year after the eruption of the crisis in Syria, the US, its Western allies and regional and Arab tools started to fabricate groundless accusations on the use of chemical weapons whenever the Syrian Arab army achieves progress in eliminating Takfiri terrorism. The forces supporting terrorism in Syria have consistently used chemical weapons as a pretext to block the progress of the Syrian Army as they use it as a political pressure against the Syrian state.

All the US fabrications and falsehoods will not affect the Syrian stance to continue its war against terrorism and liberate all its territories from it.
