Tehran,(ST)- Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources, Ali Ghanem, discussed yesterday with the Iranian Minister of Petroleum, Bijan Zangeneh, aspects of strategic cooperation between Syria and Iran in the oil sector.
During the meeting, Ghanem outlined the great damages and losses in the energy and oil sector due to the terrorist war on Syria, stressing on the need for the joint work to face the challenges of the current economic sanctions targeting Syrians.
Ghanem also stressed on the need for joint work to rehabilitate facilities, production lines, exchanging expertise and training the Syrian cadres in the technical field.
In his turn, the Iranian Petroleum Minister expressed his country’s willingness to cooperate with the Syrian oil Ministry in the domain of drilling, oil and gas facilities and equipment. In addition to the exchange of cadres and missions between the two countries.
On the other hand, Minister Ghanem discussed with the Iranian Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade Reza Rahmani ways to achieve a remarkable step in bilateral cooperation in the industry and mines sector. He stressed the importance of cooperation in the field of industrial and mining sector and geological exploration, noting the memoranda of understanding signed between the General Establishment of Geology and its Iranian counterpart.
For his part, Minister Rahmani, underlined the importance of strategic relations between Syria and Iran, expressing his country’s readiness to cooperate with the Syrian Oil Ministry in the field of drilling, mines and training technical cadres.
