UNRWA Commissioner-General Thanks Syria for Continuously Supporting Palestinian Refugees in the Country

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Deputy Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Walid al-Moallem has reaffirmed Syria’s firm stance on providing all forms of assistance and support to the Palestinian people in the confrontation of attempts aiming at undermining the Palestinian cause.

Al-Moallem made the remarks during a meeting in Damascus on Sunday with Pierre Krahenbuhl, Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA).

He stressed that despite the terrorist war targeting its independent national decision, Syria has always been ready to provide whatever is necessary to back the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and help them restore their legitimate rights which have been usurped by the Israeli occupation.

The top Syrian diplomat expressed Syria’s rejection of any plans aiming at cancelling UNRWA or targeting its key role in supporting the Palestinian people inside and outside the occupied territories, voicing Syria’s constant support for UNRWA’s works.

On his part, Krahenbuhl thanked the Syrian government for providing support for UNRWA’s activities and for the Palestinian refugees in Syria.

He asserted UNRWA’s keenness on consolidating its distinguished relations with the Syrian government which are based on decades of mutual confidence.
