UN Chief Guterres: Netanyahu’s plan to annex Palestinian land from the West Bank is illegal

On September 11, U. N Secretary General Antonio Guterres expressed concerns about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s announcement to annex Palestinian land from the West Bank saying it is illegal and will undermine any possible political settlement.

“Such measures, if implemented, would be a serious violation of international law and would be devastating to the potential of reviving negotiations and regional peace,” Guterres was quoted by Reuters as saying.

Stephane Dujarric, the Spokesman for U. N Secretary General Antonio Guterres, warned the Israeli prime minister of the consequences of his declaration of the annexation of Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank. 

Dujarric said: “This plan would not have any international legal basis”.
