Settlers Destroy Three Vehicles South of Nablus

NABLUS – Extremist Jewish settlers earlier today partially destroyed three Palestinian vehicles after raiding the village of Asira al-Qiblia, south of Nablus in the West Bank, local sources said.

Hafez Saleh, head of Asira al-Qiblia village council, said extremist settlers from the nearby illegal settlement of Yitzhar surreptitiously entered the village at about 5:00 am local time and destroyed the three vehicles, which belong to local Palestinian villagers.

He said the attack was carried out in the full sight of Israeli occupation soldiers who were present at a nearby military outpost.

The settlement of Yitzhar is notorious for its hardcore Jewish settler community who in the past committed several attacks against Palestinians and their property, including arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, attacks on vulnerable homes, among others.

Settler vandalism of Palestinian property in the occupied territories is almost a daily occurrence, and attacks by settlers are rarely prosecuted by Israeli occupation authorities.

Hunger striking Palestinian detainee facing deteriorated health

On the other hand in Ramallah, hunger-striking Palestinian detainee in Israeli occupation jails Nasser Zaidan Jadaa, 31, who  has been suffering from deteriorated health conditions following 33 days of hunger strike in protest of his arbitrary detention, without a charge or trial.

The Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Commission said Jadaa, who is incarcerated in a solitary cell which lacks the basic humanitarian requirements, has been suffering recurrent dizziness, fainting and vomiting.

Jadaa started a hunger strike on August 4 shortly after he was placed under administrative detention, a procedure which allows the detention of Palestinian prisoners for renewable periods of time based on “secret evidence” and not clear charges.

He was detained three times in the past by Israeli occupation authorities.
