Cuba Supports Syria’s War on Terrorism, Calls for Lifting US Sanctions on Syria, Cuba, Iran

HAVANA, (ST)- Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, Vice President of the Cuban Council of Ministers, has stressed his country’s support for Syria in its war on terrorism and affirmed the need to enhance bilateral ties between the two countries , mainly in economy.

He made the remarks during a meeting with Syria’s Ambassador to Cuba Idris Mayya. The meeting focused on cooperation in the fields of health and pharmaceutical industries.

Mayya explained the situation in Syria in the light of the victories being achieved by the Syrian army against terrorism in the countryside of Hama and Idleb. He affirmed Syria’s determination to uproot terrorism wherever it is in Syria.

 In the same context, the Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla condemned the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed by the United States on Syria, Iran and Cuba, asserting that these unfair measures violate the international law and they should be lifted.

In a tweet on Thursday, the Cuban top diplomat said the US coercive measures against the Iranian maritime bodies and oil sector threaten peace and stability in this troubled area.

He added that the US blockade on Havana forms a major obstacle hindering the development of Cuban economy and affecting the daily life of the Cubans.
