Syria, Crimea Sign Agreement to Establish Trade House, Shipping Company, Discuss Exchanging Goods

DAMASCUS, (ST)-Within the framework of Damascus International Fair’s activities, Syria and the Russian Republic of Crimea on Thursday signed an agreement on enhancing economic and Trade cooperation that includes establishing a trade house and a private shipping company.

The agreement was signed by Deputy Prime Minister of Crimea Republic Georgy Muradov and Syria’s Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade Mohammad Samer al-Khalil.

In a statement to journalists, Muradov stressed the importance of consolidating the Russian-Syrian cooperation in all domains, particularly in Syria’s reconstruction process. He said that Damascus International Fair has witnessed  an increase in the number of participating businessmen and companies and this adds more importance to this event.

 He pointed out that Syria’s achievements in the fight against terrorism paved the way for Russia’s wide participation in Syria’s reconstruction process and in other economic fields.

On his part, the Syrian economy minister said the agreement came following contacts and intensive talks, pointing out that establishing a trade house creates a cooperation channel that facilitates the exchange of products between Syria and Crimea. He added that the two sides agreed on forming work teams for future cooperation in all economic fields and on creating a shipping company to enable regular maritime shipping of goods between the  two countries.

Muradov, Naddaf Discuss Activating Export-Import Movement between Syria and Crimea

In the same context, Muradov and Syria’s Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer protection Atef Naddaf discussed means of reactivating and boosting economic, industrial and agricultural cooperation and stressed the importance of continuous contacts between the businessmen and companies of the two countries.

Naddaf noted the need to carry out joint projects and hold regular exhibitions for Syrian products in Crimea and similar ones for Crimean products in Syria to promote each country’s goods and identify the needs of the markets in both countries so that they can be met.

Muradov, on his part, described Damascus international Fair as a major cultural and economic forum for businessmen to know about the civilizations, industries and up-to-date technology of the participating countries.

 Talks between the two sides focused on increasing trade exchange and boosting cooperation through the Syrian-Crimean trade house and on encouraging businessmen of the two countries to reactivate export-import movement in order to meet the needs of the markets in both countries.
