More than 100 Iraqi Companies, Businessmen Confirm Their Participation in 61st Damascus International Fair

BAGHDAD, (ST)- A number of Iraqi businessmen have stressed that boosting economic cooperation and trade exchange between Syria and Iraq would help confront challenges facing the two countries.

The remarks were made as more than 100 Iraqi companies and businessmen are getting ready to take part in the 61st Damascus International Fair due to be held between August 28th and September 6th, 2019.

Sa’d al-Nou’man, an Iraqi businessman who took part in several DIF editions, told SANA correspondent in Baghdad that “Damascus International Fair is a unique economic phenomenon in the Middle East in terms of comprehensiveness.”

He said that the return of the fair after the failure of the global conspiracy hatched against Syria, sends the world a message saying that Syria keeps confronting terrorism and at the same time continues the process of production and innovation.

On his part, Sadeq al-Mousawi, the first deputy of head of the Syrian Iraqi Business Council, said that “the continuity of holding Damascus International Fair despite the heinous aggression on Syria proves the vividness of the Syrian people and indicates their adherence to Syria’s national independent options.”

He added that the wide Iraqi participation aims to upgrade the level of economic cooperation and trade exchange between Syria and Iraq so as to achieve economic integration.

He made it clear that Iraq is one of the most important markets for the Syrian industrial, agricultural, medical and cosmetic products.

Basem al-Baghdadi, another Iraqi businessman, said that the Iraqi markets are waiting for the Syrian products to enter the country, because the Iraqis like buying the Syrian products due to their high quality and competitive price.

In the same context, the delegations and public relations committee of the Syrian private sector team participating in Damascus International Fair announced yesterday that some 400 Arab and foreign businessmen are invited to visit the fair.
