Algeria Denounces Continuous Turkish Military Interference in Syria’s Idleb

ALGIERS, (ST)-  Algeria has reiterated its support for Syria, as a government and people, to restore security and stability countrywide, hailing the sacrifices offered by the Syrians to achieve this goal.

An official source at the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement to the Algerian News Agency (APS) that Algeria “denounces the open and continuous military interference in Syria’s Idleb by a neighboring country”, in a reference to Turkey. He pointed out that this intervention “violates the principle of good neighborhood and disrespects countries sovereignty “. It would prolong the crisis in Syria and undermine opportunities for solving the crisis through political dialogue, the source made it clear, according to the Syrian news Agency (SANA).

Media sources have recently revealed that the Turkish regime continues to support terrorist organizations in Idleb and Hama northern countryside, mainly the blacklisted Jabhat al-Nusra, by providing them with sophisticated weapons to help them attack safe areas and maintain their positions where they can continue to take thousands of civilians as human shields.

The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatiates said earlier that the Turkish occupation of Syria’s Afrin city is illegal as it contradicts the principles and objectives of the UN Charter and international law. It called for the immediate withdrawal of the invading forces from the Syrian territories.

In the same context, Syria’s permanent Representative at the United Nations Bashar Al-Jaafari said that besides their military aggression and violation of the Syrian sovereignty, the Turkish authorities took dangerous procedures in the Syrian areas they occupied represented in replacing the Syrian identity with a Turkish one, which is reminiscent of what Israel did in the occupied Syrian Golan.
