DAMASCUS, (ST)- Marking the Workers’ Day, President Bashar al-Assad on Wednesday paid a visit to the Umawyeen Electricity Station at the Tishreen Park in Damascus where His Excellency congratulated the station’s workers on duty and Syrian workers as a whole.
” the values of work are deeply associated with great and sublime titles such dedication, building, production, strength and good where Syria’s workers adopted. They(Syria’s workers have exerted every possible effort to boost strengthnesses and surpassing weaknesses with the aim of a dear and strong Syria ,”said President Al-Assad.
“over the past two years of the crisis in Syria,Syrian workers again lived up to expectations .They will be one of the pillars of the country’s strength and not on the contrary. Attempts to hit the infrastructure will not weaken Syria’s workers to perform their national duty despite the fact that hundreds of of workers from various sectors have passed away at the hands of terrorists, “underscored President Al-Assad.
President al-Assad made it clear that one of the most important groups among workers are electricity workers and services sectors workers who exerted their utmost to keep these sectors working even if that meant risking their lives. So the Syrians appreciate their work as the terrorists and their backers are relentlessly working to sink Syria into darkness d, both at the intellectual and social level and on the level of depriving citizens from basic services, mainly electricity.
His Excellency went on saying that Syria’s workers aborted the terrorists’ attempts and maintained the flow of services, noting that this is one of the components of the steadfastness of the country in the face of the war targeting it and its citizens.
President al-Assad toured the station and was briefed by its supervisors on the nature of their work and services they provide. He lauded the great efforts they are exerting, particularly their efforts to restore electricity as soon as possible in areas witnessing exceptional security conditions despite that terrorists target them and that there have been martyrs among the workers’ ranks.
For their part, workers at the station highly appreciated President al-Assad ‘s gesture on their day, affirming that the difficulties they face will not dissuade them from carrying out their national duty and help preserve the electricity .
“President al-Assad’s visit shows constant concern and care for the working class, and that it should motivate workers and make them more determined to work hard,” Electricity Minister Imad Khamis told reporters.
