Venezuelan Embassy in Damascus Holds Reception Marking Venezuela’s Independence Day

DAMASCUS, (ST)- The Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Damascus on Monday held a reception to celebrate the 208th anniversary of Independence.

Vice President Najah al-Attar in addition to a number of ministers, deputy ministers, members of Baath Arab Socialist Party Central Leadership members, some People’s Assembly members and diplomats attended the reception, which was held at the Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus.

Jose Biomorgi, the Venezuelan Ambassador to Syria, stressed that his country will keep steadfast in the face of the US pressure and threats like Syria did in its confrontation of US backed terrorism which has been targeting Syria for 8 years.

Biomorgi hailed the victories being achieved by the Syrian Arab Army on terrorism and which have contributed to foiling the US imperialist schemes.

Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Sousan stressed the strong relations between Syria and Venezuela, noting the two countries’ adherence to sovereignty and national pride and affirming their rejection of subordination.

He reaffirmed Syria’s support for the Venezuelan people and the leadership of President Nicolas Maduro in the confrontation of foreign interference in Venezuela’s affairs.

Sousan highly appreciated Venezuela’s support for Syria in the face of the “heinous conspiracy and dirty war” waged against Syria, asserting the need to expand cooperation between the two countries in order to face challenges and the illegal unilateral coercive measures imposed by the West colonialist forces.
