Women in Business Conference Provides Chance for Women to Share Experience, Boost Business Partnership
Under the Patronage of Labor and Social Affairs Minister Rima Al-Qadiri, deliberations of the Women in Business Conference( When She Leads) kicked off yesterday at the La Mira Resort in Lattakia province in the presence of Egypt’s Ambassador in Syria Mohamed Thrawat Salim, Directors of Culture, Tourism, Labor and Social Affairs in Lattakia, a number of local and Arab businesswomen as well as other political and economic concerned bodies.
The two- days event is organized by the Junior Chamber International (JCI) in Lattakia in cooperation with the Modernizing and Activating Women’s Role in Economic Development (MAWRED) society.
In a message broadcast at the conference, the Presidential Political and Media Advisor, Dr. Bouthaina Shabaan stressed that no woman can be a giving person and her giving is valuable unless she is convinced of her ability to do what is impossible.
She underscored the fact that the Syrian crisis has proved that the Syrian women, in the past and present, have been considered the symbol of steadfastness, patience and committed to the principles and values of their homeland.
Dr. Shabaan pointed out that Syrian women have played pioneer and remarkable role in all domains, adding that this conference provides an important chance for them to boost their cooperation in business and to share experiences.
Egypt’s Ambassador to Syria Mohamed Tharwat Salim said in a statement to the Syriatimes e-newspaper “I am keen to participate in this conference because I believe that women have a great role in society, especially in Syria under the current circumstances.”
He affirmed that the Syrian women are expected to have more effective role during the reconstructing process , noting the importance of their role in the job market.
He stressed Egypt’s political and economical support for the interests of the Syrian people, calling for holding such conferences constantly to shed light on the Syrian women’s continuously growing role in society.
On his part, representative of the Labor and Social Affairs Minister, Mr Bashaar Dandash, Director of Social Affairs and Labor in Lattakia province, told the Syriatimes that holding the conference while the country is recovering and achieving victories, is the biggest evidence that the women will be vital partners in building man before the stone.
Dandash explained that the Social Affairs and Labor Ministry in cooperation with the civil societies has played major role in supporting women, mainly those who are the only breadwinners of their families, by carrying out suitable projects for them.
Mrs. Yasamina Azhari, Head of MAWRED Society, said in a statement to Syriatimes that “the conference aims at reactivating and enhancing women’s role in economic development, a goal that motivated us to cooperate with the JCI to organize this conference.”
She made it clear that the most important goals of the conference are to brief women on how to enter the business world , help them market their works, guide them to establish partnerships in work and encourage non-working women to enter the field of business.
Local President of the JCI Lattakia Haitham Shreiteh told the Syriatimes that the conference is a unique experience in Syria in general and the city of Lattakia in particular and it was held starting from the JCI‘s keenness on supporting Syrian women’s skills.
He added that the conference calls for a positive change in the world of business through enhancing the concept of the involvement of women in the economic process and through encouraging cooperation among businesswomen.
