Iran Denounces US’ Destructive Role in Gulf Region

TEHRAN – Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi, in a meeting with Zainul Abidin bin Mohamed Rasheed, the Special Envoy of Singapore’s Minister for Foreign Affairs to the Middle East, lashed out at the White House’s anti-Iran moves, warning that the warmongering approach has destructive repercussions for the entire region.

Araqchi, during the Tuesday meeting with Abidin in the Asian country, underlined that the US’ economic sanctions against Iran are in fact targeting the security of the whole Middle East region.

“The only issue in the Middle East region that was resolved through negotiations and diplomacy and resulted in an agreement, was the Iran nuclear deal, which the US withdrew from over illogical and incomprehensible reasons,” Araqchi added, Fars News reported.

“The US is now waging an economic war against the Islamic Republic, which is the cause of all tensions in the region,” he stressed.

The Iranian diplomat went on to note that the US’ economic sanctions are in fact targeting the security of the whole region, adding “therefore, one cannot expect peace and security in the region without first putting an end to this economic war.”

The Singaporean diplomat, for his part, voiced his country’s support for the Iran nuclear deal (JCPOA), and expressed hope for the de-escalation of tensions in the region.

On Monday, Iranian Ambassador to Britain Hamid Ba’eidinejad, in a post on his Twitter account, said that the US economic terrorism against Tehran is putting the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and the world powers in a big danger.

Ba’eidinejad expressed the hope that everyone would be aware of the fact that the US economic terrorism against Iran posed the biggest threat to the Iran nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and regional security.

Back in April, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, in a post on his Twitter page, said that the US’ costly adventurism in the Middle East has worsened the situation, adding that the White House is being manipulated by pro-Netanyahu Zionist lobbies who are after their own interests at the cost of all others.

“When it comes to conflict in our region, IT’S NOT ABOUT THE MONEY: Donald Trump confessed US has spent $7 trillion here, only to worsen the situation,” Zarif wrote in a tweet April 13.

The top Iranian diplomat added that the US president’s costly and wrong support for the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu could have repercussions.

“It’s Netanyahu Firsters always making the wrong choice in his service—at expense of all else—and expecting different results,” he continued.
