Germany Vows to Preserve Iran’s Nuclear Deal

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said on Saturday that the European states are doing their best to de-escalate tensions between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the US taking into account current sensitivities in the Middle East region.

Addressing a meeting in Baghdad, Maas underlined the importance of removing tensions and inviting all parties to maintain peace and exercise self-restraint.

He added that miscalculations, misunderstandings and provocative acts will leave unpredictable consequences.

Escalation of tensions over the past few weeks has made European countries to take action in order to remove misunderstandings and tensions, he noted.

He went on to say that Iran’s nuclear deal is worth attempting to be preserved.
