Australian Journalist: Leaked Document Reveals that OPCW Suppressed Report on Alleged Chemical Attack in Douma

LONDON, (ST)- More fabrications have been revealed within the framework of the terrorist war on Syria, mainly on the alleged chemical attacks staged by foreign-backed terrorist organizations to blame the Syrian Arab army for them and justify aggression on Syria.

According to SANA Arabic, most recent revelation was presented by independent Australian journalist Caitlin Johnstone and published on her own blog. It is a new leaked document on claims about the Syrian Army’s use of chemical weapons in Douma in April, 2018 and about the misleading role played by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in this regard.

The Australian journalist quoted  former Scotland Yard detective and counterterrorism intelligence officer Charles Shoebridge as revealing that “the OPCW suppressed expert engineers report that found the cylinders were not dropped from the air.”

This conclusion refutes accusations against the Syrian Arab army of launching chemical attack and clearly indicates the terrorist organizations’ responsibility for the alleged incident.

Some media outlets, known of their support for terrorists, claimed that in April 2018 the Syrian army used chemical weapons in Douma during the military operation it carried out in retaliation to the attacks launched by the terrorist organizations against different areas in Damascus and its vicinity.

Johnstone also cited “Moon of Alabama” blog as writing that “the engineering assessment confirms our earlier conclusion”. “The whole scene as depicted by terrorists and propaganda organs was staged. The more than 34 dead on the scene were murdered elsewhere under unknown circumstances.”

She said that a document titled “Engineering Assessment of two cylinders observed at the Douma incident” has been leaked. It reveals that an engineering sub-team of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) fact-finding mission in Douma came to conclusions which differ wildly from the OPCW’s official findings on the alleged Douma incident.

The assessment’s findings, according to Johnstone, put forward multiple hypothetical scenarios in which two gas cylinders could have wound up in the locations where they were found. The assessment concludes that “The dimensions, characteristics and appearance of the cylinders, and the surrounding scene of the incidents, were inconsistent with what would have been expected in the case of either cylinder being delivered from an aircraft”.

“The assessment says more thoroughly and technically that the physics of the air-dropped cylinder narrative make no sense whatsoever,” she added.

She pointed out that “the reason we were given for the U.S., U.K. and France launching airstrikes on Syrian government targets in April of 2018 was that two cylinders full of poison gas had been dropped from aircraft by the Syrian air force, but this was proved to be fabricated.”

The alleged chemical attack was used as a pretext to launch a tripartite aggression by the US, France and Britain on Syria on April 14, 2018 targeting several Syrian sites in the vicinity of Damascus and Homs. The Syrian air defenses confronted the missiles and downed most of them.

“We are being lied to about Syria. Anyone who believes unproven assertions about governments targeted for toppling by the US-centralized empire has failed to learn the lessons of history. The Syrian government had literally nothing to gain strategically from using chemical weapons in Douma, a battle it had already won, and knew full well that doing so would provoke an attack from the ’empire’,” she said. “Douma was occupied by the Al Qaeda-linked Jaysh Al-Islam, who had at that point nothing to lose and everything to gain by staging a false flag attack in a last-ditch attempt to get NATO powers to function as its air force,” she made it clear.

She concluded by saying that “if you still believe at this point that the Syrian government dropped poison gas on Douma last year, then I’ve got some Iraqi WMDs to sell you,” mocking the West’s claims about Iraq possessing WMDs, a lie on which the US based its invasion of Iraq in 2003.
