As the Palestinians across the world are marking the 71st anniversary of the Nakba Day (the Day of Catastrophe), the US continued to take aggressive measures against the Palestinian and Syrian people that started in recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel followed by the provocative decision of moving the US embassy to Jerusalem, and recently recognizing Israel’s sovereignty over the Occupied Syrian Golan.
These provocative measures are grave developments that put Washington on the same side as occupation and the violation of international law. They place the United States at a position of complete bias in favor of the occupation and the violation of international law and resolutions.
These irresponsible decisions constitute a declaration of war in the Middle East. Trump is declaring war against 1.5 billion Muslims and hundreds of millions of Christians that are not going to accept the holy shrines to be totally under the hegemony of Israel.
The US administration’s provocative decisions proves once again its hostility towards the Arab nation and its disregard for the nation’s people, proving that the US policies are employed to serve the Zionist project in the region.
The current Arab situation and the collusion of certain Arab regimes with the nation’s enemies have set the stage for this disgraceful US decisions, which require correcting the Arab situation and putting an end to the course of subservience, lethargy, and conspiracy followed by these regimes, and it requires building a unified Arab stance that reflects the will of the people and that can defend the nation’s interests and existence.
As the Palestinians commemorate the 71st anniversary of the Nakba Day, they are more determined to liberate their occupied lands and establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital. They are also more determined to the repatriation right which has been guaranteed by UN resolutions.
Nakba in Palestine describes a process of ethnic cleansing in which an unarmed nation was destroyed and its population displaced systematically by gangs and individuals from all over the world. On the 15th of May 1948, more than 800 thousand of Palestinians were forcibly displaced by Zionists, from their indigenous towns and cities into the West Bank and Gaza Strip and to neighboring Arab countries, and other countries of the world. Since then, the Zionists have been committing heinous massacres against the Palestinian people with the aim of perpetuating the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories and obliterating the repatriation right of the Palestinian refugees to their indigenous homeland. The Zionist criminal record includes scores of savage massacres against the defenceless Palestinians. The Zionist gangs confiscated 775 towns and villages and destroyed 535 Palestinian towns and villages during the Nakba. The atrocities of Israeli Zionists also included over 70 massacres in which 15 thousand Palestinians were killed by Zionist terrorist gangs. The Zionist terrorist paramilitaries carried out massacres and forced expulsions, including the infamous massacre of Palestinian men, women, and children in the village of DeirYassin in April 1948. The Israeli military continued to carry out a campaign of uprooting and expelling the indigenous Palestinian people, forcing Palestinians to flee their homes and land. Altogether Israel expelled more than 80 percent of the Palestinian population. This campaign continued and included the razing of nearly 400 Palestinian villages.
Today the Palestinian refugees and their descendants number 4 million people, many still living in refugee camps in the occupied territories, Syria, Lebanon, and elsewhere. Israel has been refusing the right of these refugees to return to their homes in violation of international law and numerous United Nations resolutions. At the same time, in a striking example of inequality and discrimination, Israel has declared itself the state of all the Jews in the world and automatically grants citizenship to any Jewish person anywhere in the world who seeks to immigrate to Israel. A Jew living in Texas, for example, who has never lived in Israel, can automatically gain the benefits of citizenship under the so-called “Law of Return”, one of Israel’s racial Laws.
Despite the aggressive Zionist measures, the Palestinians are still adamantly adhering to their inalienable rights, especially the right of return. The number of wounded Palestinians during the Marches of Return reached about 30,000 persons, while data from the Ministry of Health indicated that the number of wounded in Gaza Strip has reached 17000 since the beginning of the marches of return. It is noteworthy that 136 citizens were amputated as a result of the Israeli occupation forces aggression against the Palestinians in the march of return and breaking the siege East of Gaza Strip, while the number of martyrs amounted to 272 citizens, among the martyrs 54 children and 6 women and elderly.
