Hundreds rally in London in support of Palestine

In London, hundreds of protesters marched through the streets of London today in solidarity with Palestinian people who are commemorating the 71st anniversary of the Palestinian exodus, or the Nakba of 1948 when about 700 thousand Palestinians were forced out of their homes by Jewish militias.

Leading the protesters was iconic Palestinian activist AhedTamimi, 17, who was filmed slapping Israeli forces at the entrance to her home in Palestine. Tamimi was incarcerated for eight months after an aggravated assault conviction and released last July to crowds of chanting supporters.

Organized by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC), the rally saw speakers calling for justice for Palestinian people and an end to 12-year-long blockade on Gaza by Israel. The protesters also condemned the recent attacks on Gaza which resulted in the murder of 26 Palestinians.

“Exist! Resist! Return!” and “Freedom to Palestine”, some placards read. Some of the protesters were filmed saying, “It was Britain that was supposed to protect the rights of an entire people! But it failed”

A group of pro-Palestine Jewish people also attended the rally in support of Palestinian rights.
