Family of Three Martyrs Stress “We Feel Stronger, More Proud after Our Sons’ Martyrdom”

HAMA, (ST)- There in the courtyard of their house, Badie Hammadi Fayyad (Abu Hasan) and his wife sat remembering their three martyred sons with great feeling of bride and dignity.

Abu Hasan and Um Hasan are known in their village of al-Ghab in Hama northwestern countryside as the family of the three martyrs that represent an example of sacrifice, strong will and steadfastness, a report by SANA, published to mark Martyrs Day, said.

Abu Hasan’s sons- Adel, Hayyan and Basel- were martyred between 2012 and 2016 in the Syrian army’s battles against terrorist organizations in several Syrian areas. The first one, Adel, was martyred in Idleb on June, 29th, 2012. He was 23 years old. The second was Hayyan, who was martyred in Harasta in Eastern Ghouta of Damascus Countryside in 2014. He was 29 years old and had got two daughters. The third son was Basel. He was martyred on March, 21st, 2016 (Mothers’ Day). He was 34 years old and he had got two sons and one daughter.

“When our sons were martyred our will become stronger and our feeling of pride and dignity grew higher,” Abu Hasan said proudly.

“I received the martyrdom news of each of my sons with steadfastness and pride. I felt heartbroken at first, but I believe that what we need in the current dirty terrorist war on our country was to stay strong and to withstand challenges so the homeland can stay safe,” Abu Hasan said, adding that “my sons were martyred in the battlefield and I didn’t cried over them, because the one who is killed while fighting enemies of the homeland is a martyr that we should be proud of”.

Abu Hassan, who worked in agriculture in a land he owned in order to raise up his children, talked about the danger that has been threatening Syria because of terrorism over the past years, stressing that if he had the chance to get a rifle he wouldn’t leave the battlefield, because “we are defending ourselves and our land against enemies, like our fathers and forefathers did to expel the French colonialism”.

He remembered his sons’ enthusiasm to defend the homeland.

“I used to wake up at dawn and see my son Hayyan, who was suffering some wounds in a previous battle, talking to his comrades about his eagerness to return to the battlefield. He always told me that he must join his comrades again to defend the homeland.

Un Hasan, the mother of the martyrs, was not less patient and steadfast than her husband.

“It was a big loss and a difficult situation, but faith and patience have eased some of my grief. God gave us patience”, She said.

“My sons were loved by all, relatives, neighbors and friends, and they sacrificed for Syria to stay..Every time, people ask me: “Are you the mother of the martyrs?” I feel fire in my heart. My sons are so dear, but Syria is dearer..Their images are in my eyes all the time, but the homeland needed them and they willingly rushed to defend it.
