Syria takes part in Beijing Int’l Horticultural Expo.

 (ST)-With the participation of Syria and more than 110 countries and organizations, Chinese President Xi Jinping opened the activities of the Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition 2019 in the Yanqing District on the northern outskirts of Beijing set to last over five months.

The 162-day expo, which will run through October 7 will exhibit a variety of flowers, fruits, vegetables and herbs from across the world, including more than 300 rare and endangered plant species.

Director General of the Authority for supporting and developing local production and exports Dr. Ibrahim Mideh said Syria is participating in the “Beijing Expo” with a 200 square meter pavilion designed according to our traditional heritage, as a tourist and media attraction and in the presence of a number of Syrian companies specialized in various fields pointing out that the Authority organized the participation of 6 Syrian companies, including companies belonging to the Ministries of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform and Tourism, which exhibited their products in four sections and one center within the Syrian pavilion.

Dr. Mideh stressed that the exhibition is an important opportunity to market, promote and introduce the competitive Syrian products in the Chinese market and to build strong business relations with friendly foreign businessmen and companies.

He explained that 80 percent of the Syrian pavilion allocated for products related to horticulture and the other 20 percent for the products of the food industry, companies, noting that the Ministry of Agriculture provided the exhibition with the required seedlings ,especially the Damascene  Rose, which Syria is famous for, as well as the food sector’s products that are desired abroad..

“The Expo, which is held under the supervision of the Chinese government for 162 days, is a global event for economic, cultural and business exchanges. It offers the latest products related to the cultivation of flowers, fruits and vegetables”, Dr. Mideh concluded.
