DAMASCUS, (ST)- Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faysal al-Mikdad has reiterated  that it is necessary in humanitarian actions to adopt neutrality and abandon politicization that some parties keep trying to impose on international humanitarian organizations and on the countries which receive humanitarian aid.

Al-Mikdad, during his meeting on Tuesday with Volker Turk, Assistant High Commissioner for Protection for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), stressed the importance of continuous cooperation between the Syrian government and the UNHCR during the terrorist war imposed on Syria.

He pointed out that the Syrian government has spared no effort as to facilitate the return of the displaced citizens to their homeland.

On his part, Turk highly appreciated the Syrian government’s  long-term cooperation with UNHCR to make its humanitarian mission in the country a success.

He said that the UNHCR will cooperate with the Syrian government to ensure safe return of the Syrian refugees, reiterating the importance of coordination between the Commission and all concerned Syrian parties.
